Cross Tire clincher Pressure??

What tire pressure would be best in Ritchey Speed Max Cross clinchers for Cross wheels in Sunday's race? Sidewall says 90. I'm thinking 60? Most important criteria is no flats, maximum bump absorption would be second....

I haven't ridden this bike with cross tires yet, will be doing that before the race....have been riding it on the road with road tires. I have been enjoying riding it on the road so much I don't want to switch it over to cross.....

The course isn't too bumpy, in fact it is rather fast. There are some sharp corners planned to slow it down slightly and two areas where you are on the pavement(quick little spirts). NO Triples as of yet, I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I don't like the triples. Not sure what psi to run with clinchers 'cause I have tubulars and I think I will go pretty low just for the corners.

Most folks run too high pressure on cx tires.
If you have cx tires with a width of 30 or less, start with 42# +/-5#. If you run width greater than 30, start with 40#+/-5#.
I weigh 152# and run 38# in the rear and 36# in the front. You'll have to get used the tire feeling squishy, but the added traction, slight suspension benefits, and lower rolling resistance are so worth it.

thanks, JP, that helps for the future. June and jennifer convinced me to let out some air just before my race, and it was good thing. Not sure if I was down to 42ish. I don't understand why the rolling resistance is lower at lower air pressures with clinchers, though, that doesn't make sense to me?

I think I want to get wider tires. I used some old Ritcheys that I had (27?) that are great tires, but I need more cush.

Julie- it was great hanging with you guys! It was fun, and it was nice to be around all that enthusiasm for cross. I may not get to the race report until tonight or tomorrow, I am a slow writer and am busy with other stuff today, but I put up a photo in the meantime...
