Stuff to check out

I was surprised to be reading the August issue of Mountain Bike Action and turn to page 104, the "Inside the Pro's Bikes" column. Hey, that's a WORS racer!! The featured pro this month is Chris Peariso, with his Titus Racer X. I don't know Chris but I think that's pretty cool that they are featuring a Midwesterner!

Also, on page 22 of the same issue is what might be the perfect race vehicle for WORS and WEMS. Everything but a shower and a bathroom! It's a converted Dodge Sprinter van, converted by Sportsmobile. They have a model designed by Brian Lopes called the Lopes 55, which is about $71,000!!! (hey, you can live in it!) Or you can design your own. The Lopes model is the most popular, says the article. Sleeps 4, has a kitchen with fridge, an area in the back for bikes, and it can get 22 mpg. It also is allowed in places that an RV isn't, and it can drive on dirt roads. The article says that it qualifies for a 15 year RV loan. (I didn't know RV loans could be that long!) While I don't think most of us will be able to run out and buy this, it's droolworthy. And now, after reading and writing about the Sprinter van this morning, I noticed Sprinter vans everywhere this afternoon! I must have seen like 10 of them today! Funny how that works. They are so plain looking I normally don't notice them, but they are everywhere.
